Maharashtra: Case booked against two medical students for forging caste certificates

Mumbai: A medical college student has been arrested while two others have been booked by the JJ Marg Police after the Grant Medical College authorities filed a complaint on March 31. The complaint filed was about the students having forges certificates to get admission in the college. The students in question include two girl students, one of whom has already passed out of the college.


The matter came to light when an ex-Mantralaya employee had complained to the Directorate of Medical Education and Research (DMER), that the students had submitted forged backward community caste certificates.


The complaint was followed by an inquiry and 17 of the accused students found guilty. Complaints were registered against nine of them. The police after booking them in a case of cheating and forgery arrested a Femida Khan (24) from Kurla.


"We are on the lookout for the other two students," Dr Manoj kumar Sharma, DCP (zone I) told Mid-day.com. According to the police, Femida had produced a Scheduled Tribe (ST),caste certificate .


A case under sections 420 (cheating), 465 (forgery), 471 (using forged document as genuine), and 468 (forgery for purpose of cheating) of IPC has been registered against the woman .
