Maharashtra: Various pending projects receive the Medical Secretary's nod

Nagpur: A project on Centre of Excellence in Government Dental College and Hospital (GDCH), was given clearance by Medical Education, State Secretary, Sanjay Deshmukh who also gave a nod to a second project involving the first instalment of the Rs 100 crore allocated to the Super Specialty Hospital,(SSH) by the state’s Chief Minister.


The consen to the two projects was given at a meeting of the Chief Secretary and the deans of both medical colleges along with the Officer on Special Duty of the Super Speciality Hospital (SSH).


Dr Pravin Shingare, Head, Directorate of Medical Education and Research (DMER) who accompanied the Secretary said “All these are old projects but need a push. Hence DMER is trying to expedite them.”


The SSH project cleared by the Secretary costing Rs. 25 crore includes the setting of seven ICUs in cardiothoracic vascular surgery, gastroenterology, cardiology, urology, neurology, nephrology, and endocrinology. Installation of a CT scan and an MRI installation at SSH is to be part of this project.


On the other hand, Dr Dipty Jain, Professor & Head, Paediatrics Department, Indira Gandhi Government Medical College and Hospital is to prepare a Rs 4 crore, project report, for the Centre of Excellence in Sickle Cell at the Ambedkar Hospital, on Indora square, reports TOI.
