Maharashtra: Another plea has come up against the NEET implementation; only this time it is a writ petition by the students submitted in the apex court.

These students have come together to protest against the decision, just after the Maharashtra government filed a review petition in SC over the matter.

However, students have expressed anguish over how the state government is handling the matter, as, when they reported in Delhi, the advocate-general representing their case was missing.

The student's petition highlights the fact that their syllabus only prepares them for the MH-CET and the AIPMT. Students who took the NEET-1 held on 1st May, even felt that many questions were not a part of their syllabus. There is also a wide difference in syllabus for each of the subjects (Physics, Chemistry and Biology) between AIPMT and MH-CET.

The students have further based their plea saying that after two years of preparation they fear that they will still not get admission in any government college, and they cannot afford admission in a private college.

As quoted by TOI: while welcoming a single entrance exam for the forthcoming years, the aspirants felt that the SC order came too late in the day for this academic year. "Students have filed the appeal as they are the most affected. They have not been satisfied with the government's efforts," said Rajesh Jain, co-ordinator of the Parents' Association of Medical Students (PAMS).

Jain in addition implied that the state government must pay due consideration to the fact and inform the court that the future of many students is at stake with this decision. The basis of preparation for NEET is very different. In addition, the advocate-general should be present for the next hearing of the review petition in the court; erstwhile we will demand his resignation.

Many private colleges have also moved the court against its recent decision of implementing NEET as a All-India based pre-medical entrance test.
