Maharashtra : Expressing their dilemma over the exam schedule, Maharashtra Association of Resident Doctors, on behalf of the medical students in the state has written a letter to the DMER, asking the body to prepone the Winter 2016 MUHS exams by a month . With the current schedule of exams and corresponding declaration of results, the students would stand a chance of loosing an attempt to the ensuing DNB examinations that would be held in december

In the letter, the students have pointed out that as per the time table displayed on the site of MUHS, the theory papers will be conducted on 27th, 29th and 31st in winter session (December), with the practical examination being conducted in January 2017 session .

Citing that a similar process had taken place last year, with the results being declared in July 2016, had put many a students out of the timelime of applying to DNB examinations that is post diploma DNB June 2016 session .

Moreover, the letter stated that, to be eligible for December 2016 Session of post diploma DNB, the last day for passing diploma examinations should be on or before 31st December 2016. However, with the above mentioned time table of winter session 2016 MUHS examination, the students will not be eligible for the post diploma DNB December 2016 Session

MARD pointed out that most of the post diploma DNB seats in reputed institutes open only once in years in December session . DNB seats of few of the courses, such as skin and psychiatry do not open in June session. Hence, conducting the winter session MUHS exam in December-January 2016/17 will lead to huge loss i.e.1 academic year for the Maharashtra doctors .

The doctors have requested DMER to conduct and end the exam in December 2016 only and declare the exams results before 31st December 2016, to enable them to sit for the DNB December Session.
