Maharashtra: Dr Wahane Appointed dean of IGGMC

Maharashtra :Dr Meenakshi Wahane-Gajbhiye is the new government appointee as Dean at the Indira Gandhi Government Medical College and Hospital (IGGMCH). She has replaced the acting Dean, Dr Madhukar Parchand .


Dr Wahane originally hails from Nagpur. She did her MBBS from IGGMCH itself. She then did her-graduation from Ambejogai and joined as an Assistant Professor there Dr. Wahane was also at Yavatmal’s Vasantrao Naik Government Medical College for three years. She then moved onto Nagpur’s GMCH; and worked there for eight years. Dr. Wahane –Gajbbhiye’s career also shows her to have worked with Akola for some years, to be followed by a promotion as Professor, to Pune’s B.J. Medical College.


Dr Wahane was also appointed as Head, Radiology, J.J. hospital. After Dr. Prakash Wakode of IGGMCH was promoted as Joint Director, Medical College Hospital, Dr. Gajbhiye took up the post of Dean, IGGMCH full time.


Dr. Gajbhiye joined service through the Maharashtra Public Service Commission (MPSC).


Meanwhile, Dr Pallavi Safle was appointed as Dean, Gondia’s Government Medical College and Hospital reports Hitavada.
