Unfortunate: Doctor from JJ hospital meets with accidental death

Mumbai: A resident doctor of JJ hospital who was on his way back to college after visiting a friend died after he lost control over his bullet bike at the JJ flyover, early on Thursday.


A case of accidental death has been registered by the pydhonie police, who said that the accident had occurred around 1.30 am on Thursday. The police informed that the doctor was travelling from the south towards the north and was driving without a helmet.


Jalandhar Singh, as he was identified was a 29 year old, second year MD anesthesia student. "The biker lost control and collided with the divider. He was flung from the bike and thrown to a corner of the road. He sustained multiple head injuries. The injured doctor was rushed to the nearby JJ Hospital, where he was declared dead," said an officer.


Dean JJ Hospitals TP Lahane revealed that he hailed from Ludhiana.


"He was from the 2015 batch and would have graduated in 2018. He had gone to meet a friend near Cama and Albless Hospital in CST," the Dean revealed to the TOI. Citing the cause of death to be the head injury inflicted by the fall, he said the absence of a helmet on his head was the graver reason for it.


"Doctors tried for more than two hours to save him. But he was already brought in a critical condition," said Dr. Lahane. His parents came in on Thursday, after they were informed of the accident. They will be flying out with his body on Friday.


All the necessary arrangements for their return air travel, have been made by the JJ Hospital, Lahane added.
