Madurai Medical College student found dead in hostel room

Tamil Nadu: A third-year medical student of Madurai Medical College was found dead in his hostel room by his friends.

The incident was reported in the wee hours of Friday when his friends entered his room only to find his body lying in the room.

A police complaint has been registered, and the matter is currently under investigation for death under suspicious circumstances. A post mortem has already been conducted.

The exact cause of his death is yet to be established. Even the fact that it is a suicide or death due to his health issues has not been identified yet. Apparently, the boy was under treatment for a tumor in his stomach. He is also reported to be under depression after his mother passed away six months back due to an ailment. Police will be investigating the matter after an official complaint has been lodged with them.

As reported by TOI, Krishnamoorthy, 21, son of Ramachandran from Musiri in Trichy district, was undergoing third year medical education and was staying in a hostel. Based on a complaint, Madhichiyam police registered a case under CrPc- 174 - suspicious death, and were investigating. The body was shifted to a mortuary, where post mortem was conducted by a team of doctors.
