Chennai: The Madras High Court has directed medical aspirants who had paid money to producer Madhan for admission to SRM institute to file their complaints within two weeks, starting Monday.

Justice R Mahadevan who passed interim orders on two separate petitions filed by SRM Chairman, T R Pachamuthu and Madhan, also directed the former to deposit a bank guarantee for a sum of Rs 10 crore. He has already deposited Rs 75 crore at the time of his bail release.

The case is based on 100 complaints of parents and children who had paid a total of more than Rs 64 crore to Madhan and his associate Sudhir for MBBS, MS and MD admissions in SRM institutions.

Madhan who later disappeared on May 29, 2016, leaving behind a suicide note stated Pachamuthu as the man to whom he had entrusted- the money collected.

Pachamuthu was arrested based on complaints and allegations and later released on bail, after making a deposit of Rs. 75 crore. Madhan however, was arrested from a hideout in Tirupur and later alleged that he had given away all that he collected to Pachamuthu. A trial court granted him bail on a 10 crore deposit condition. Madhan expressed his inability to pay, saying he did not have any money.

On Monday, Justice Mahadevan asked Pachmuthu to submit a bank guarantee of Rs.10 crore and directed Madhan to create a lien, if necessary, second charge of his properties in Vadapalani. If he complies, he shall be set free on bail, said the judge.

The judge posted the matter for April 3 and said claim applications by parents and students were to be filed "within a period of two weeks from today, "reports TOI.
