Bhopal: A Hamidia Hospital junior doctor was beaten up by an admitted patient’s relatives on Sunday, for alleged carelessness in treatment. Abhishek the admitted patient had problems in his legs and hands after he met with an accident. A police post was established by the police department on the request of officers of the education department four days ago.

The doctors have yet to take a decision on whether to go on a strike or not with regards to the incident. They have however filed an FIR with Koh-e-Fiza police thana, demanding arrest of the alleged people, who beat Dr Mohit. They will also be speaking to senior officers at Hamidia Hospital, Gandhi Medical College and Medical Education officers, on Monday.

It is believed that Abishek who had met with an accident leading to problematic movement in the arms and legs was under Dr. Mohits care on reaching the hospital. His relatives however, had a heated exchange of words with the patients relatives on account of treatment being given. It is alleged that the relatives later beat up the attending doctor. This has led to resentment among the Hamidia staff. The situation became uncontrollable because the number of relatives was far greater than the three police personal trying to disengage and control them.

Dr Tanmay Shah, President, Gandhi Medical College, when contacted confirmed the facts."We have filed a FIR against the attendants of Abhishek at Koh-e-Fiza police thana. The manning police post is not sufficient to control such incidents", he said.
