Indore: The Madhya Pradesh Medical Dental College and Associated Hospital (Government) Management Bill 2017 proposal, has not gone down well with the state’s medical teachers and doctors . They are seen raising protesting voices against the bill's recommended proposal. The Management Bill 2017, which speaks of constitution of an authority for management of medical and dental colleges in the state, has the medical fraternity staging a protest against it under the banner of Madhya Pradesh Medical Teachers Association (MPMTA).

The Association has also forwarded a memorandum to the Director, DMER through the Dean Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Medical College on Saturday.

The body has also submitted a memorandum addressed to Director, Department of Medical Education to Acting Dean of Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Medical College on Saturday.

“We are protesting against the Bill as the proposal was without the consent of the medical teachers and the clauses included in it are also against the rights of teachers,” said MPMTA Secretary, Dr. Rahul Rokade. "The teacher appointments were made by the autonomous body of the medical college constituted in 1988 and follow the rules and regulations of the body.Sudden changes in the rules for medical teachers will be like cheating with us. The government didn’t take the views of faculties in medical colleges before preparing the draft bill as it also affect the seniority and promotion of many a faculty,” said Dr. Rokade in a press release.

The MPMTA officials were of the view that no such authority proposed by the Bill had been introduced in any other state and its introduction in their state would damage the structure of the medical education system.

"We will hold a meeting with other organizations including Nursing Home Association, Indian Medical Association and Nurses Association on Monday. And will decide our future course of action to protest againt the Bill.” the MPMTA Secretary, to the Free Press Journal.
