Madhya Pradesh: MGM Medical College to apply for PG seat increase
Indore: Discontent about no PG seat increase having been allotted for the last 2 years, the Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Medical College(MGM Medical College), authorities plan to put in an application for seat increase on Friday. The college had earlier been denied a seat increase due to deficiency of infrastructure, equipment, and headcount. The college officials have been doing the rounds of the Directorate of Medical Education recently to discuss the issue. The college will be applying for an increase of 22 PG seats. Dean of the college, Dr Sharad Thora is believed to have met the DME officials to discuss the same.
"We will apply for as many as 22 seats in various departments including anaesthesia, medicine, orthopaedics, gynaecology and others, by Friday," HoD, Community Medicine Department at MGM Medical College, Dr Sanjay Dixit told Free Press Journal.
He said the college had not put in an application, earlier, due to deficiencies overcoming. Now with talks having been held with senior officials, efforts will be on to overcome earlier deficiencies pointed out by the MCI, he added.
Infrastructure development for procurement of undergraduate seats has also been started in the college
An application for an increase in UG seats for the academic year 2019-20 will also be filed soon.
"We will submit a declaration with MCI for getting the compliance over the deficiencies which will be eliminated with the ongoing infrastructure development," Dr Dixit told the FPJ.
