Madhya Pradesh: Dental admissions sqabble

Bhopal: A meeting of the Admission and Fees Regularity Committee (AFRC) was held to discuss the High Court’s decision regarding postponement of dental admissions till December 30.The High Court postponement comes due to a complaint petition filed by the State Dental Council stating that private dental colleges were violating admission norms.


The court has cancelled all admissions since 2014, and instructed the Directorate to conduct a meeting of all concerned bodies to discuss the issue of violation of norms, related to dental admissions.


The Jabalpur Bench of the High Court has instructed the Directorate of Medical Education to regulate a meeting with the AFRC, APDMC, Representatives of Private University Regularity Commission, Principals of Private Medical Colleges,and others, to decide whether the admission process pursued by private colleges till now were in accordance with the stipulated guidelines or not.


The victimized students have submitted a memorandum to the Chief Minister and members of the committee,asking them to take a decision in favour of their interests.


Since 2007, students seeking admissions to private medical colleges have got them on the basis of competitive exams, management quota and the class XII result.


Dr Sashi Gandhi, Additional Director, Medical Education, revealed that private medical colleges were not able to provide student details, as asked for by the court. A per forma has now been given to the college principals to furnish details. They have been instructed to submit the perform as by December 29, and the meeting has been scheduled for December 30th.


Meanwhile, Sahib Ali, President State Dental Welfare Association, confirmed submission of a memorandum by students to the committee members and the state’s Chief Minister, pleading for a decision in their favour.
