Indore: The inspection of Biometric machine installations in all private and government medical colleges in the state by the Medical Council of India will finally put a check on ghost faculties, Thursday onwards. This will happen because the machines have been under the direct supervision of the apex regulator .

"As many as 13 biometric machines will be installed in Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Medical College and its associated hospitals. A team will come for the inspection on June 22 and the attendance will be monitored by them in New Delhi," Dean of Medical College, Dr Sharad Thora added.

"The move is aimed at exposing ghost faculty that is arranged by some medical colleges during the inspections by the medical education regulator to provide approval to run their college," a senior official of MCI said.

The Radio Frequency Identification enabled Identity cards issued to the faculty are meant to help the regulator monitor the attendance, work status of faculty and salaries on a real time basis.. " Some Private medical colleges have either ghost faculties or guest lecturers to teach students. The step has been taken to stop the malpractice," the official said.

The system is a foolproof check on the in and out timings of faculties working both at private and government colleges. This is the case as their timings will be monitored on real time basis and they cannot be absconding before their time schedule is over. Real time online monitoring will help the MCI keep a vigil on the faculties.

" This will improve the timings of faculties in Government medical colleges and also help improving their lazy attitude towards duty," added the senior official to Free Press Journal.
