Madhepura Medical College to begin teaching from the next academic session

Patna: Teaching work at Madhepura Medical College will hopefully begin from the next academic session. An announcement to this effect has been made by the Deputy CM Sushil Kumar Modi on Tuesday. 6 new medical colleges are also to come up in the at six places in the state.


"The process to open the new colleges will be started in right earnest from next year," the CM said while addressing the 15th annual meeting of Bihar Chemists' and Druggists' Association in Patna.


The CM also revealed that every tuberculosis patient would be given Rs. 500 per month for expenditures related to medicines and a nutritious diet. This is being done to get rid of the lung infection by 2025 as announced by PM Narendra Modi.


The state has around 2.5 lakh TB patients and private doctors treating in the state would be given Rs. 100 as an incentive for every patient they cure.


Referring to the concession being given to the economically deprived by the Centre on medicines Mr. Modi said prices of 886 medicines had been reduced by 75% while that of the stent for heart patients had been given an 85% price concession.


He told TOI, that the state authorities were committed to freeing medicines trade from "inspector raj". Any complaint of harassment by medicine traders at the hands of officials will be taken action against immediately.
