Ludhiana : Civil Hospital to begin PG paediatrics course

Ludhiana: Dr Anupam Sachdev, from Ganga Ram Hospital and an National Board of Examination (NBE) member, visited the Civil Hospital on an inspection to start a postgraduate course in pediatrics. After the approval of NBE, the hospital will train students in Diplomate of National Board (DNB) in pediatrics.


"Today, Dr Sachdev, inspected the pediatrics department of the hospital to start the course in paediatrics. If all goes well, there will be four seats and the course will start in August this year," Dr Pardeep, Director Academics Board, DNB programme, Civil Hospital, Ludhiana told the Tribune.


He further added that students selection will be made based on National Eligibility and Entrance Test (NEET) scores. The Civil hospital is taking on one faculty member from Christian Medical College and Hospital & Dr Daljit Singh, the Former Principal, DMCH, also is to become part of faculty.


The hospital is also planning to start a course in anaesthesia and an NBE member will be back on April 24 for inspection.


The hospital is already successfully running the DNB in gynaecology and four students have been admitted for it.


Ludhiana's civil hospital is the first to start this course in the state. After the completion of the course, the students will be absorbed in the hospital to overcome doctor shortage.


Ludhiana Deputy Commissioner, Pardeep Aggarwal, today inspected the Civil Hospital. Mr. Aggarwal who came for dental treatment at the hospital also took a round of different wards and drug store as well.


Diplomate of National Board is a postgraduate degree in post-doctoral medical education, run by Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, in various disciplines of modern medicine, as mentioned by the Medical Council of India (MCI).
