Kozhikode Medical College will developed as premier health institution: Minister

Kozhikode: Promising comprehensive development of the Kozhikode Medical College Hospital Excise and Labour Minister Excise and Labour Minister on Monday while inaugurating the diamond jubilee celebrations of the College promised to have it develop into a premier health institution .


The Minister who had been nursed back to health at the hospital two months ago, found it difficult to control his emotion while speaking of his treatment experience as the hospital. He however vowed to devote his remaining life to the service of the public and development of the hospital that had infused new life into him after he suffered from a cardiac arrest.


He said though the institution had some of the best experts of the country it suffered due to infrastructural deficiencies. He expressed his intention to contribute Rs. 1.8 crore from his MLA fund for the development of the cardiology unit. He revealed that the file pertaining to the fund was already before the finance Minister and the fund would be released in the coming three days. "The cardiac department will be developed as one of the best in the state," he added.


He also spoke about 13 MLA having been granted permission by the government for the purchase of 13 ventilators for the medical college hospital. "Around Rs 8 lakh is required to purchase a ventilator. 13 MLAs will provide 13 ventilators to the medical college hospital soon and more will be given on the basis of requirement," he said..


An MLA Pradeep Kumar giving the presidential address said preparations of the master plan for KMCH were on in consultation with renowned architects of the country. He said the plan was being developed keeping in mind the development of the college and other institutions on campus for the next sixty years.


Mr. Ramakrishnan felicitated the outgoing Principal KMCH, Dr. VP Sasidharan on the occasion . The Principal handed the Minister a 60 point development plan of the college. The plan envisages the comprehensive development for the college hospital.


Dr V P Sasidharan retires from service after nearly three decades of an eventful career. He had joined as a tutor at the transfusion medicine section of the medical college in 1988 after completing his medical education from Kozhikode Medical College. He also served as the Principal ,Manjeri Medical College, reports TOI.


Mayor Thottathil Raveendran, Purushan Kadalundi MLA, Deputy Mayor Meera Darshak, MCH superintendent Dr Sanjeev Kumar and others attended the function.
