Kota: Another Medical aspirant commits suicide

Rajasthan: A medical aspirant pursuing his coaching in Kota for AIPMT medical entrance examination allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself in his hostel room. Nikhil Kumar, 20-yr old hailed room Bihar and allegedly hanged himself to a shower tap in his bathroom. The victim’s body was found after his hostelmates found a foul smell, coming from the room, on July 5. It was a just a month back, Kumar had taken admission in the Allen Institute for taking coaching for the medical entrance test.

The police in addition implied that there is no suicide note found in his room. The city police has only recovered a piece of paper, on which Kumar had scribbled-“Medical Hay” “mummy” and “papa”.

Kumar’s body is currently in the mortuary and his parents have been informed about the unfortunate incident.

What makes the matter seem strange is the fact that Kumar’s room was seen locked from July 4; however, there was no reported action from the hostel warden, drawing any suspicion whatsoever.

Police, after checking the call records of Kumar, have confirmed that he last spoke to his mother at 1 am and 10 am on July 1. Post which, he did not answer any call. This fact suggests that he must have allegedly committed suicide on the same day.

As per a media report, this incident takes the count (number of suicides) this year to eight and taking the total the last five years to 60. Despite several measures by government and other NGOs, these cases have always been a matter of concern in Kota. The city is a hub for many medical and engineering aspirants in India.

Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje had earlier warned the coaching institutions to take proper care of students and provide then proper counseling.
