Vice president, Dr Ganesh Yadav added,"If the administration fails to understand our point we will be left with no other option than to cease work after two weeks of the letter."

Lucknow: King George's Medical University's (KGMU) Resident Doctors are threatening to go on a protest strike by ceasing work after two weeks if the administration of the KGMU fails to look into their demand of granting a pay packet at par with the resident doctors of Sanjay Gandhi Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences (SGPGIMS).

The Resident Doctors' Association (RDA) of KGMU has complained that while the pay scale of the faculty and non-teaching staff has been raised to be at par with their counterparts at SGPGIMS, the resident doctors have been alienated from the hike,

"This is not only a matter of at par but a matter of denial of equality, which is largely due to administrative loopholes...this is no longer acceptable to us and we are forced to protest against this injustice," read the letter reported TOI.

KGMU RDA, General Secretary, Dr Neeraj Mishra told the daily, "We had planned to cease work except that of emergency services previously from April 3 but withheld it after the university assured us of taking up the matter. Medical Education Minister, Ashutosh Tandon and Chief Secretary, Dr Rajneesh Dubey had assured us that the matter will be sorted out by April 11, but ever since then nothing has been done about our genuine demand."

Vice president, Dr Ganesh Yadav added, "If the administration fails to understand our point we will be left with no other option than to cease work after two weeks of the letter."
