Kochi: The State government has decided to withdraw the suspension of Dr. Jilis George and his colleague accused of medical negligence in the Shamna Tasneem death case. An MBBS student of Government Medical College, Ernakulam, Ms.Tasneem met with her death on July 18, after having been administered an injection at the college hospital

The plan to withdraw the suspension order comes in the face of further inquiries being conducted in the case. It is said Shamna's death occurred due to a severe allergic reaction to ceftriaxone injection.

As reported earlier by Medical Dialogues the suspension of the two doctors had led to the medicos of the college, including junior residents and house surgeons, staging a strike.

The parents had alleged that their daughter died due to lack of proper treatment by the hospital authorities and the absence of proper equipment and facilities at the hospital.
