Kochi: The Kerala High Court has been informed of the medical seat admission cancellations undertaken by the CEE's Admission Supervisory Committee(ASC), for both Kunnur and Karuna Medical Colleges, with a request that the court uphold its decision. The Commissioner of Entrance Examinations(CEE), revealed to the apex judicial authority, that 150 MBBS seats at Kannur Medical College and 30 at Karuna,Pallakkad stood cancelled.

The court was informed that admissions to Kannur Medical College be held as per NEET rankings, which so far has not been the case; as many discrepancies have been observed in the college admission pattern.

Speaking of Karuna, the CEE informed the court that as per the High Court directive, a result of college management's challenging of the ASC’s orders, spot allotments had been done on the basis of NEET rankings.

The CEE report filed by the commissioner in court, on the Kannur Medical College discrepancies stated, “Documents submitted by Kannur MC were mysterious, as the list of total applications and category-wise merit list for admission lacked the NEET rank and roll number of candidates, which were most important. Duplicate entry of candidates, mismatch in NEET roll number, erroneous entry of NEET rank were also found.”

“Prima facie, it appears the college authorities disobeyed HC’s direction to be present before the CEE with all relevant records, including particulars of applications received, those rejected as defective, details of defects, final rank list of students concerned and other aspects that would substantiate their case as to the transparency and inter-se merit,” the report added.

In the case of Karuna Medical College, the report stated to have found flaws in the data. “The category-wise split-up of candidates admitted by the college did not match the actual seat matrix, it was found. Discrepancies like duplicate entry of candidates, mismatch in NEET roll number, erroneous entry of NEET rank also figured in the list of admitted candidates,” the report stated.

It also revealed that the college did not submit documents related to admission of students and complained about the uncooperative attitude of the officials and their attempts to delay the admission process.
