Fearing unemployment, Two nurses attempt commit suicide at PK Das Memorial Medical College

Palakkad: The prospect of unemployment after the management refused to consider their request for regularization of job, led two women nursing staff of PK Das Memorial Medical College Hospital, at Vaniyamkulam, consume hydric acid, on Saturday morning. They were admitted to the intensive care unit of the hospital. There are reported to be in a stable condition.


The college which belongs to the Nehru group of educational institutions, on a prior occasion has run into a similar controversy, with an engineering student's alleged suicide attempt due to alleged management harassment.


The nurses found in an unconscious state at 3.30 in the morning, had been working with the institution after completion of their course, in accordance with the agreement signed. The bond ended on the day, they attempted to take their lives. A case has been registered with the district police reports the Hindu.
