Kerala : Supreme Court to be approached for admission extension deadline

Kochi: The Kerala Government has decided to seek a deadline extension from the Supreme Court for its MBBS/BDS admission process completition. The state government has taken a decision to take over all the vacant seats in private self financing colleges.


The CEE will be filling the 50% newly added seats in Sri Gokulam Medical College, as an agreement has been signed with the state government, regarding the same. In case of the KMCT Medical College, Calicut, all the new seat allotments would be filled through common counselling, as an agreement with the state has yet to be reached.


According to the Supreme Court order,dated 26.09.2016, all vacant seats in private/ self financing/ medical/ dental colleges are to be filled through common counselling. The KCPCMF in view of the apex body's order, cancelled their spot allotments and have submitted their vacant seats to the CEE to fill up.


According to sources, it is only the Christian Management Federation associated medical colleges, that have informed the concerned body about their vacant seats . No other private self financing institution has come up with their numbers, after the spot admission.


A spot allotment has been scheduled for September 30, 2016, by the CEE, more time may be required fill seats in various government/Medical/Dental Colleges in the state.


In all likelihood looking at the current scenario, Kerala like Maharashtra is also likely to get an extension to complete its admission process for its various private/Self financing Dental Colleges.. The Supreme Court has granted Maharashtra an extension till 7th October, 2016
