Kerala: Medical student suspected to have hung herself to death

Kasargod : Amitha, a 21 year old third year BDS student of Pariyaram Medical College was found hanging from a fan in her bedroom at home at Chirappuram, Nileshwaram on Wednesday.


Born to Madhu and Shanta, she is one of the two daughters of the couple. Her sister works as a pharmacist in a medical shop at Nileshwaram. Her mother was the first to discover her body hanging from the ceiling fan in her bedroom, around ten in the morning. Hearing the mother's cries, the neighbours rushed in.


"Though the neighbours, who rushed to the house after hearing the cries of the mother, took the girl to a nearby hospital, she was declared brought dead," revealed the police and as reported by New Indian Express, Amitha was supposed to go to the college to pay her fees on Wednesday. The girl's father is working abroad.


The body of the student has been shifted to Pariyaram Medical College for a post-mortem examination. Suspecting it to be a case of suicide, the police however, added that the final cause would only be confirmed, after detailed investigation was completed.
