Kerala: Medical College receives Rs 1 Lakh donation from actor Kalidasa

Mathrubhumi Mission Medical College has received a donation of Rs. 1 lakh from actor Kalidasa. The sum is a portion of the remuneration received by him for his first film as hero. The Tamil film called "Meenkuzhambum Mann Paanaiyum," will be released on Friday in theaters across the city.


Kalidas Jayaram handed over the sum to Mathrubhumi Mission Medical College project, an initiative taken up with an objective of improving facilities at Kozhikode Medical College Hospital.


The actor reached the Mathrubhumi News channel office on MG Road in Ernakulum and handed over the money to the Mathrabhumi Channel’s Director, M V Shreyams Kumar.


Kalidas expressed happiness over the fact that new vigour was being granted to the Medical College with the cooperation of the state’s people.


"I was happy that Mathrubhumi had come forward for such an initiative. The happiness doubled as I became a part of the project by donating a portion of the money I earned through my hard work," said Kalidas.


An eye specialist in Kasargod, Dr PM Suresh Babu, handed over a cheque of Rs 25,000 to Mathrubhumi Kanhangad office for the project.
