Kochi: The Kerala High Court has been intimated of the shift of the Kannur Medical College from Anjarakkandy to Malappuram in the wake of the CITU agitation on the premises. According to the Kannur Management, the continuous month long agitation on the plea of labour problems has now begun to hinder the entry of employees and students and has brought the functioning of the hospital to a standstill. The management has submitted the happenings in the form of an affidavit to the court.

The affidavit states that the 6000 strong student body along with the new admissions for the current academic session, is finding it impossible to function due to the CITU agitation on the premises. The disturbance being created by the CITU, is pushing the management to shift the college to Mallapuram, the affidavit further added.

Efforts to shift the college to Malappuram are underway and are likely to be completed within a year’s time. Meanwhile, the college has in its written submission sought the deployment of central forces to provide security to the institution till the shift happens
