Kochi: Integration of the employees of the Medical College Ernakulam into the government fold is on the cards. The state government is on its way to finalizing the process.

Thiruvananthapuram hosted a high level meeting on Wednesday, which in principle decided to go ahead with the integration process of all regular employees of the Cooperative Medical College, which was taken over by the government in December 2013. The assent seeking ground work from the Public Service Commission has been done, while employee verification by the police is under consideration. The employees integration will take its final form after 350 employee proposals are submitted to the commission reports the Hindu.

The formula for integration will include:
• giving due recognition to the length of service of employees at the quasi-government institution
• Pay fixation will be the next major step after the integration process.
• In the case of Contract labour and daily wage earners, the government will go by the supreme court rulings; as they cannot be integrated into the government-fold.

Health Secretary, Rajeev Sadanandan, Medical Education Director Dr. Ramla Beevi, senior officials of Health and Finance departments, and Principal, Medical College attended the meeting.
