Kerala: Inquiry to be conducted into the alleged harassment bid at GMC Thrissur

Thrissur: A Government Medical College, Thrissur student's complaint of harassment against a professor of the college, has led the Directorate of Medical Education to order a high level inquiry into the incident.


A high level inquiry has been ordered into a complaint by an MBBS student at Government Medical College, Thrissur, that an assistant professor of the college attempted to harass her.


A team comprising of Heads of Forensic Departments of Thiruvananthapuram and Kozhikode Medical Colleges and the Microbiology Department Head of the Thiruvananthapuram Medical College, will be reaching the college on Monday and will be submitting their report within a two week period.


Professor Habeeb Mohammed, who has been accused of harassment in the operation theater by a girl student was arrested and released on bail.


The students staged a sit-in in front of the Principal's office when they saw the professor reach the hospital and started examining the patients on Friday. The commotion had the Principal show the student's the professors suspension order.


The students continued to agitate demanding that the professor not be reinstated. The professor on an earlier occasion had faced similar charges at Kozhikode Medical College. He had on that occasion tried to take a photograph of a patient in the operation theater as reports the Hindu.
