THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Medical College police arrested a 24-year-old woman, who posed as doctor at the Medical College Hospital here, and was sitting at the rest room of the post graduate doctors in the casualty wing. The arrested fake has been identified as Arya, a native of Kallara. Another quack had been arrested from the hospital, a couple of months ago. The hospital after the incident had taken precautionary measures to prevent fakes from getting into the hospital and fleecing patients.

Doctors and paramedical staff were asked to wear uniforms strictly inside the hospital and different identity cards were introduced for para-medical staff, doctors, nurses, and security personnel.

Despite precautions taken Arya, managed to enter the casualty of the hospital. When arrested the woman was identified as a permanent face by a few of the visiting patients at the hospital.

The police also declared that Rs. 2000 had been stolen from a doctors bag in the rest room a few days earlier , suspecting that to be Arya’s job as well. The presence of a woman was reported in the room on the day of the theft. When questioned by the hospital authorities, the woman claimed to be a PG doctor.

The post graduate doctors reported the presence of the woman for the first time, on Wednesday to the security, who in turn informed the police. It was during the police interrogation that she claimed to be a PG doctor, possessing an identity card. However, further questioning by the police saw her changing her versions. This lead to suspicion about her true identity, reports the TOI.
