Kerala : 7 self-financing medical colleges get SAC warning

Kochi: Warnings have been issued to 7 self financing private medical colleges for their incapacity to publish details of the online admission applications received by them. The Supervisory Admissions Committee headed by J.M. James is leaving no opportunity to take action against errant medical institutions.


In a bid to maintain transparency, in the online admissions, the James Committee has issued notices to 7 erring private medical colleges. The warned medical colleges include: Kerala Medical College, Palakkad, Believers Church Medical College, Thiruvalla, Azeezia Institute of Medical Sciences, Kollam , Al Azhar Medical College, Thodupuzha, SR Medical College, Varkala, SUT Medical College, Thiruvanthapuram and Travancore Medical College, Kollam.


9th September, 2016, was supposed to be the last date for submission of applications for the Management and NRI Quota seats. 10th September was supposed be the last date of publication of the online applications on the college website. In some cases, the admission advisory committee found the details published by medical colleges- inadequate.


Calling them a violation of directives issued, the Commission stated, ""Only when such publication is effected, the applicant will be able to notify or point out the defects, if any, in the application. For transparency of admission and to ensure merit, such procedure is necessary."


The principals of these colleges were directed to publish the online applications immediately, so that errors could be pointed at, by applicants, as ordered.


If the above procedure is not adopted, the admissions effected will not be accepted and the same will be considered as having been done in violation of the ASC directive- dated 04.08.2016 and the prospectus approval order dated -02.09.2016," the ASC observed.
