Karnataka to establish Nursing University shortly: Minister

Belagavi: Karnataka Minister for Medical Education D K Shivkumar said that Nursing University will be established in the State shortly.


The Bill is ready and it will be moved in the Winter Session to be held at Suvarna Soudha here from December 10," he added.


He was speaking after inaugurating International Nursing Conference organised by KLE Academy of Higher Education and Research (KAHER) here on Friday.


He said that he has already instructed Rajiv Gandhi Health University to prepare the required papers for the same.


Lok Sabha member Prabhakar Kore in his address suggested upgrading the standard of nursing education to international standards. He said today's curriculum is outdated and it is 200 years old. He urged the Indian Nursing Council President T Dileep Kumar, New Delhi, who was also present, to do the needful.


About 1,300 delegates from seven countries and 10 States participated in the Conference.
