Karnataka: Mysuru boy holds a new rank in CET after revaluation; expected to change the list of toppers in CET ranking now

Karnataka: After a revaluation of 2^nd year pre-university answer scripts, a Mysuru boy has been declared as the new topper for science. He also applied for revaluation of his English paper and scored higher with marks of 597. This in turn, has also affected the CET rankings. Now, unexpectedly the list of toppers is also going to change as a result.

Ravish Bannihatti is the student from Sri Ramakrishna School who has now scored 8 more marks, with his total score now reaching 597. This score is one more than the previous topper. ,

Ravish will go up in the CET rankings now. He is the 56^th rank holder in the medical and dental streams. He is now going to be allotted an additional rank by the Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA).

KEA will declare the seat matrix for medical courses on June 21. As per a recent media update, the matrix will only be announced for GMCs, till the matter of sharing state government quota seats is completely resolved with the private medical college association managements.

Also, 41 students seeking admissions through CET counseling under special category cannot take the benefit. KEA has not given them this benefit as they have not filled in the required details in their online application forms. 3 separate lists have been released by the authority giving the names of the students who cannot seek admissions under special category. The list highlights 15 names under the sports quota, 6 under the physically disabled category and 20 in the NCC category.

“Although the students got their documents verified, they are not eligible to avail benefits under these categories as they had not opted for these categories while applying,” an official from KEA said to the Hindu.

The KEA said to TOI that it'll announce seat matrix of all courses as per schedule, except those of private medical and dental colleges. Seat matrix for private engineering colleges too shall be out. This means, once the optional entry starts from June 15, students can select seats only in government medical and dental colleges.

Officials, however, said the government is confident of convincing private medical and dental colleges to share seats under government quota. "Once they agree, we'll announce the seat matrix of these colleges before announcing mock allotment results on June 23. The delay in getting private colleges' seat matrix (medical and dental) shouldn't create problem for students as they have time till June 23," they added.
