Karnataka: KEA approves NEET for admission to medical, dental seats from next year

Medical aspirants for the MBBS and dental seats for the academic year 2017-18 will have to qualify for the National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test(NEET) for admission to medical colleges all across the country . A decision to this effect has been announced by the Karnataka Examinations Authority for the state of Kartnataka. The CET will no longer be applicable to the two streams clarifies the KEA.


However, CET will be applicable for the Indian system of Medicine, Homeopathy, Pharmacy. engineering, farm sciences, the authority specified.


Seat allocation by the KEA for MBBS and dental courses will be based on the scores a student gets in NEET.The KEA merit list would apply for the government share in medical and dental colleges.


Earlier students were put through difficulties with confusion over a Supreme Court ordinance on NEET. Confusion also prevailed over the quota of seats that the private medical colleges will hand over for the state.


Recently, The Maharashtra Government also announced that from the year 2017, admissions to all medical courses will be conducted on the basis of NEET scores only
