Karnatala: The Karnataka Examination Authority ( KEA) after having committed the error of not having considered the Hyderabad Karnataka Reservation during allotment of post graduate medical and dental seats to aspirants on May 20 had to re do the entire allotment process a 2nd time round. The error committed by officials was of a technical nature. The redone allotments were published on May 22. The mistake was admitted in a notification by the authorities.

The cancellation and redoing of allotments by KEA left the 404 selected postgraduate medical and dental candidates visibly upset on Tuesday morning. The re-allotment had affected the selected in a big way.

Following is the impact the re do job has had on the student result- the second time round:

Candidates who are unaffected: 1,555;

Candidates who lost their seats: 35;

Candidates who were not allotted seats earlier but were allotted later: 33;

Candidates whose courses have changed but not colleges: 45;

Candidates who have change in colleges: 359

A candidate who was allotted an M.S. seat in OBG in Rajarajeshwari Medical College is now with a diploma seat in Child Health in Bangalore Medical College and Research Institute. “It is a huge disappointed for me. They should have been more careful in allotting the seats,” the candidate said.

The state government is conducting common counselling for admissions to medical and dental PG courses in government and private colleges, including for NRI quota seats for the Ist time.

The candidates selected earlier complained of having deposited their fee and reported to the college as well. The worst affected are those who had earlier been selected under the government quota and are now having to join private colleges after re assessment.

Describing it as an oversight, officials cited the reason for the fiasco as the failure to having included the reservation criteria in the selection of the Hyderabad Karnataka candidates.

The revised May 22 allotment had no changes made in the allotment of seats of 1,555 candidates.

The KEA said that fee paid could be adjusted by concerned colleges in accordance with the second selection; with excess fee being refunded, reports The Hindu.
