KAPV govt med college undergoes inspection by the MCI

Trichy: The KAP Viswanatham Government Medical College (KAPV GMC) was visited by the Medical Council of India’s (MCI) inspecting team while the practical examinations at the college were on for 150 students, on Thursday. The inspection was undertaken to observe whether the college was conducting exams as per the Council’s guideline.


The inspection that commenced in the morning, went on till the evening. The exam was conducted in the four halls at the hospital, and the team observed whether the college was following guidelines laid down by MCI for conducting practical exams. The inspection, a day long one was conducted from early morning till the evening.


Thursday’s visit by the MCI was crucial for the college, as the final year examination for the 2013-14 batch was on and 150 students were appearing for it.

This 1997 commencement with a 100 students had been upgraded to a 150 by the then Chief Minister,J Jayalalithaa during the academic year 2013-14.


“MCI team inspected the practical examination. They were satisfied with the guidelines followed by us in conducting the examinations. The one-day inspection was over,” Dr G Anitha, Dean told TOI.


Another forthcoming annual inspection of the unit is due by the MCI next month to check the facilities available for medical education.


“The next visit of MCI may take place in a month. We have fulfilled the requirements laid down by MCI by appointing faculties and providing a good environment for the students to learn,” said the Dean.
