KAP Vishwanatham Government Medical College: Another MBBS suicide reported

Trichy: KAP Viswanatham Government Medical College, Trichy has taken a grave decision of initiating student counselling, after a 3 rd year student’s body was found on the railway tracks on Sunday night. The Counselling is to begin, in order to avoid suicidal deaths of students in the future.

Prem Kumar’s body was recovered with a severed head lying on the railway track at around 9 pm on Sunday and his motorbike stranded nearby.

The severed body was discovered by trackmen, who were there to move in the Rockford Express to the platform for its onward journey to Chennai. They requested the railway police for the body’s removal.

A team led by SI K Lakshmi on retrieving the body brought it to the Mahatma Gandhi Memorial (MGM) Government Hospital. His parents who were informed reached the hospital with other relatives early on Monday. K. Prem Kumar hailed from Thiruchengodu in Namakkal district.

"He returned from home last evening and left the hostel with his bike. There has been no information on which train ran over him," revealed SI Lakshmi to the TOI on Monday.

Following the death, which has been assumed to be a suicide, the college administration has planned to provide counselling to students to prevent such incidents in the future.
