Kakatiya Medical College Medicos suspended for Allegedly Consuming Marijuana On Campus

WARANGAL: 20 second year MBBS students of Kakatiya Medical College (KMC) have been issued notices and placed under temporary suspension for allegedly consuming marijuana during a friend's birthday party in the college hostel.


According to sources, having consumed ganja at the party, they were unable to attend class the next morning. The students in question have been accused of consuming alcohol on the campus and creating commotion in the fresher’s block. Sources told Hans India that the students were celebrating the birthday of a second-year third-semester student, Shravan, well into the night at first-year students’ block Hostel 1.


They were discovered by early morning walkers sleeping in an inebriated state in the hostel lawns.Suspecting possibility of they having smoked marijuana and consumed alcohol, they decided to bring the matter to the notice of the Principal and Warden


The principal and Warden who visited the hostel room where the party had taken place, did discover, bottles of beer and food items from the room. 20 students of the 30 who attended the party were identified and issued notices by the college Principal, Dr V Chandrashekhar.


The principal however categorically denied traces of ganja either on the student’s person or the room where the party was held.


"I personally visited the hostel room where the birthday party was going on and I did not come across any traces of ganja being used or kept. The students were in an inebriated condition and were making noises" he claimed. Their acts were disturbing the first years, as the party was being celebrated in the fresher’s block, he added. “ We have constituted a three-member committee to look into the issue. We have also issued show cause notices to the students involved in the incident and have asked them to bring their parents by December 4. The committee report would be submitted during the parents meeting on December 5. Stringent action would be initiated against those found guilty,” he added to the Indian Express.


The principal further added that vigilance on the hostel premises would be increased.
