Agra: The SN Medical College has witnessed clashes after alleged manhandling of a patient ’s attendant by a junior doctor on Saturday. The attendant is believed to have complained to the HOD Surgery about the complacent attitude of hospital employees in the procurement of medicine for his patient.

The incident that escalated these clashes was the patient attendant Gajendra Chauhan seeking a junior doctor’s help for procurement of medicine for his patient. The doctor is alleged to have passed him over to a nurse and she, in turn, sent him to another contact person. The entire exercise of pass-overs ended in Chauhan not being able to get the injection for his patient admitted to the hospital and complaining to the surgery department Head, Dr. Richa Jaiman the next day. When the news spread among the junior doctor and other staff, they are alleged to have manhandled him.

The HOD Surgery, however, denied the allegation saying that the altercation was a result of about some ward boys objecting to Chauhan chewing tobacco. She, however, added that she would look into the matter and take suitable action if the hospital employees were found guilty reports TOI.

Principal, SN Medical College, Dr Saroj Singh, said that superintendent in chief and the head, surgery had been asked to look into the incident and take suitable action.

The attendant’s patient Sahab Singh (55) hailing from Samera village near Etmadpur in Agra, had been receiving treatment at the hospital after a road accident and was admitted to SN Medical College on February 27.
