JN Medical College assistant professor slits throat in front of senior

Agra: In a hair-raising incident an AMU’s JN Medical College, Microbiology Department's, Assistant Professor, Parvez Anwar Khan attempted suicide by slitting his throat with a blade in view of the Medical Superintendent, in his office on Wednesday.He was taken to the hospital immediately and is professed to be out of danger now reports TOI.

According to MS, Prof Haris Manzoor Khan, Parvez is believed to have been under 'tremendous stress' to have resorted to such a drastic step.

Khan admitted to having made certain audio, video recordings of allegations against some of his colleagues, who he felt were trying to bring harm to him, while in the Superintendent’s office.

According to the Medical Superintendent's version, Assistant Professor Parvez Khan came to his office around 2.40 pm and told him that his colleagues wanted to kill him. He then bolted the door to the MS Office and slashed his throat with the blade that he was carrying on his person.

Though no case has been registered assistant professor, Khan's parents have been summoned by the college authorities.

Talking to the press, Parvez admitted to his plans to contest the 'Executive Council' elections. He said that this had led to people feeling antagonistic and resulted in them playing ‘dirty’ against him.

He alleged that his colleagues were feeling jealous of him as he was handling some important projects. He also claimed that some co-workers were working against him, which had made him decide to quit the institution too on Wednesday.

Khan is supposed to have recorded allegations against his colleagues and also uploaded his ‘dying declaration’, before making the suicidal attempt in the Superintendent’s office. He also professed to have written a suicide note in which he had given names of many people with intentions to harm, reports TOI.

SSP, Rajesh Pandey, when contacted stated that no case had been registered thus far, as no complaint had been submitted in writing.
