JnK: Irregular promotions at GMC to be probed into

Jammu: A major promotion scam at the Government Medical College (GMC) and its associated hospitals is to be probed into, as per orders of the State Health Department.The department initiated the probe following directions issued by the Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti.


Ms. Mufti ordered the probe on the basis of complaints of major promotion irregularities of employees received by the grievance Cell of the Chief Minister.


A 4 member inquiry committee has been constituted by the government to look into various irregularities and submit a report within 15 days.


“The sanction is accorded to the constitution of an inquiry committee of four officers to inquire into various irregularities committed while making 97 OPG (Own Pay Grade) promotions out of various non-gazetted employees of the GMC, Jammu, and its associated hospitals causing financial loss to the state exchequer,” an order of Health and Medical Education Department has said, reports Tribune.


The probe panel comprises Mohammad Rafeeq, Director Finance, and Naseer Ahmad Wani, Additional Secretary, both from the Health and Medical Education Department. Other two members are Ansuya Jamwal, Personnel Officer, GMC, Jammu, and Tara Chand, Assistant Accounts Officer, SMGS Hospital, Jammu.
