Depression: JJ Hospital Medical Intern leaps off the 3rd floor of his hostel, Critical

Mumbai: A 27-year-old JJ hospital medical intern has suffered severe head injuries and fractures in his legs after he jumped off the 3rd floor of the RM Bhatt hostel, where he resides. He is believed to have attempted on his life in a fit of depression.


Dr. Triratn Wathore was receiving psychiatric treatment for depression. He has been admitted to the hospital ’s critical care unit. According to doctors attending on him, his condition is ‘critical’.


The JJ Marg police, who are carrying out an investigation in the case has yet to register a complaint. The intern is believed to have attempted suicide earlier, as well, informed authorities at the hospital. Sources have on the other hand revealed that the deceased had been receiving treatment for drug de-addiction, as well.


The JJ Hospital Medical Superintendent, Dr Sanjay Surase, told the Asian Age : “Some of his friends brought him to the causality department in an unconscious state with a grievous head injury.


"The unconscious Wakode was found by security guards at 11.30 am. “He had a subdural haemorrhage and the bleeding inside the brain had to be released," he added to the TOI.
