JIPMER signs MoU between Health Directorate to modernize govt hospital in Karaikal

Puducherry: A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was on Monday signed between the Directorate of Health and Family Welfare Service, Government of Puducherry and Jipmer in the presence of Health Minister Malladi Krishna Rao.


An official release here said the object of the MoU is to renovate and Modernize the government hospital, Karaikal, by Jipmer through Central Public Works Department.


It includes repair and renovation of the civil structure and also providing few medical equipments needed to upscale patient management facilities.


The building after renovation will be handed over to the health department within a period of 12 months. The renovation works will be done in five phases and the total plinth area is 3792 sq.mts.


A sum of Rs 30 crore has been earmarked for this purpose. After renovation, the remaining money left out of the Rs.30 crore will be utilized to purchase equipment and infrastructure for diagnostic laboratories and upgradation of clinical management in the General hospital, Karaikal, the release said.
