Jipmer receives International award in CAM-2018

Puducherry: Jawaharlal Institute of Post Graduate Medical Education and Research (JIPMER) here has received 'International Award' in fourth Contemporary Academic Meet (CAM) - 2018 held in Chennai recently.

According to a Jipmer release on Thursday, the programme was organized by Centre for Advanced Research and Design (CARD), Chennai. The agenda of Academic Meet was to focus on the future shape of higher education, technology change and expectations of the next generation of Students & Faculty.

The aim of CAM was to provide a premier inter-disciplinary platform for researchers and educators to present and discuss the most recent innovations, trends, and concerns as well as practical challenges encountered and solutions adopted in the fields of Higher Education.

The key focus was to bring together leading academicians and researchers to exchange and share their experiences and research results on all aspects of Higher Education and to discuss the implications for university education and research, and higher education policy.

During the Contemporary Academic Meet (CAM) an International Award Ceremony VIFA 2018 was also organized for the category 'International Distinguished Faculty Award' from participants all over the world including Oman, Malaysia and United Arab Emirates.

This award has been conferred for a teaching professional who demonstrated a track record of academic excellence that is reflected by the distinct initiatives. The eligibility for nomination for 'Distinguished Faculty Award' was that a nominee must be recognized and documented by corresponding successes in active participation with students in professional activities/academic projects, development of a new program, publications (articles and books) and must be above 45 years of age.

Based on the report of 'Expert Committee' and 'Apex Committee' the 'Board of Management' recommended and conferred upon the award of 'International Distinguished Faculty in Health and Medical Sciences' for the contribution and achievement in the field of Plastic Surgery to Prof Dr Ravi Kumar Chittoria, Professor of Plastic Surgery, Registrar (Academic) and Head of IT Wing & Telemedicine of JIPMER Puducherry. The Award includes a Certificate, Medal and Memento.

Further, he was awarded 'Guest of Honor' as 'Speaker' for delivering a 'Keynote Speech' on the title 'Application of Telemedicine in Plastic Surgery and Health Practices' during the CAM.

About 700 applications received and he is one of the recipients of the award.
