Jipmer publishes entrance exam results

Puducherry: Providing relief to many medical aspirants in the city, Jipmer has published the results of its MBBS entrance exam. It was earlier scheduled on June 13. However, it got delayed because of technical reasons. MBBS seats at Jimper campus in Puducherry is 200 for this academic year. 50 seats are offered for Karaikal campus, allotted on merit basis.

"The delay in publication of results will not affect either counselling schedules or commence of classes,” Dr. S. C. Parija, Jipmer Director told

The Hindu.

The counseling will happen on June 20, 21 and 22 as scheduled earlier, with classes for MBBS commencing on July 1.

Telangana and Andhra Pradesh fared exceedingly well in the AIIMS and JIPMER tests. Ishudeep Kaur got all India rank 54 in JIPMER.

Ishudeep, who scored 96% marks in the medical stream in class X as well as CGPA 10, swears by hard work. "I used to study all day to prepare for the boards and entrance exam. To stay relaxed, I would do yoga for 30 minutes,” she told TOI.

Ravi Teja is at 7th position in All India under OBC category. B. Indra Swaroop Naik is the third rank holder in All India PH category, Rohan Swarna is third AIR in SC category, D. Saraswathi got 7th ranking in ST category, M. Mallikarjuna holds 9th position in the All India BC-B category, and E. Satvik Reddy scores 20th rank in the open category. Telugu students have secured 16 ranks among the top 100 rankings.

Dr B.S. Rao, Ms Sushma, Dr P. Sindhura Narayana and Mr Srinishith Narayana, directors of Sri Sarvani Educational Society, said to the media that extensive training and research oriented programmes were the reasons for the continued good performances of students.

The Jipmer entrance examination for MBBS admissions was conducted on June 5. The exam was conducted at 270 test centres across 75 cities in India. It was conducted in two shifts-in morning and afternoon. 1, 55,193 medical aspirants applied for the exam. Around 70 per cent of students who applied appear for the exam across the centres. In Puducherry alone, 90 per cent of the 3,098 students appeared after registering for the exam. In exact figures it means, 59,017 registered candidates of the 82,019 appeared in the morning shift. 49,537 registrants of the 73,178 appeared for the second round of examination.

“Whether a student is enrolled at Jipmer Puducherry or the off-site campus in Karaikal is not a choice decided on merit. Rather, at the time of counselling, students would be given the option to choose between either of the two campuses,” Dr. Parija said.

Anxiety had prevailed over the gathered students and parents on the expected day of announcement of the results earlier scheduled on June 13. Even the counseling for seats was speculated to be postponed as per the earlier schedule of June 20, 21 and 22.
