Jharkhand: A new dental college to be set up in May in Bariatu

Ranchi: Ranchi’s new 50 seats Dental college at Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) premises, in Bariatu, is expected to begin its academic curriculum from May 2017.


A three-member team of the Dental Council of India (DCI) inspected the proposed 50-seat facility on Wednesday. Comprising of Dr J K Dah (Cuttack), Dr Vinay Kumar (Patna) and Dr Deepak Sharma (Jaipur), the team expressed its discontent over over the shortage of nursing staff, third and fourth grade hospital staff and the institution's library.


Administered by RIMS, the new college is to begin its academic session in 2017. The college is supposed to have nine departments and 70 state of the art gadgets.


Dr B L Sherwa, RIMS Director, revealed that the inspection team had expressed its satisfaction on inspection of the complete facility. He said they would get the DCI approval to start the institution in 2017.


Meanwhile, Health Minister, Ramchandra Chandravanshi, on Wednesday was infuriated with the Ranchi district hospital management for not having anti-rabies vaccines. On a surprise visit in the morning, Chandravanshi called civil surgeon Dr S S Harijan, following a complaint of non-availability of the vaccines. "It is for your negligence that the whole department is blamed," Chandravanshi said. The hospital authority later replenished its stock .
