Jharkhand: PM Modi inaugurates 3 Medical Colleges, 300 MBBS seats to be added

Each of the three medical colleges in Dumka, Palamau and Hazaribagh is to have 100 MBBS seats.


Ranchi: The honourable Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently inauggurated three medical colleges in Jharkhand. Each of these medical colleges is targeting to have 100 MBBS seats and start its teaching from the coming academic year.


These medical institutes are located in Dumka, Palamau and Hazaribagh. The foundation stone of these colleges were laid by PM in the year 2017. The new Medical colleges are built at a cost of Rs 885 crore. Of these, the central government has given Rs 317 crore.


Each medical college campus is made disabled friendly. The modern medical facilities will benefit 1.5 crore people of 11 districts of the Jharkhand state.

"Constant efforts are being made to improve the health infrastructure of the state," the Prime Minister said during the occasion adding, "The Central government is focusing on the health of the people of Jharkhand. In coordination with the state government, three new medical colleges have been opened in one day. There were only three medical colleges in the state before and now three more have been added. People will get treatment and the youth will get medical education."


The Pioneer reports that each of the three medical colleges, in Hazaribagh, Dumka and Daltonganj, is to have 100 MBBS seats. Talking to the news agency IANS, Chief Minister Raghubar Das informed academic sessions in these medical colleges will start from June this year.

In addition, PM Modi also laid the foundation stone online for four 500-bed hospitals at Jamshedpur, Palamau, Hazaribagh and Dumka, which will be constructed at a cost of Rs 1,904 crore.
