Jaipur: Two final year MBBS Students arrested for alleged ragging at NIMS

Jaipur: Two final year MBBS students associated with National Institute of Medical Sciences (NIMS) Jaipur have been arrested by the local police for being involved in alleged ragging and assaulting of their junior- a third year medico.

The matter came into light when the Chandwaji police had received a phone call from the MBBS student alleging that he was brutally attacked by two of his last year MBBS seniors. The police went to the spot and gathered information on the matter. The police got to know that the two seniors had allegedly misbehaved with the junior in the name of

ragging. The police were informed that they had allegedly thrashed and assaulted the junior resulting in him facing minor injuries.

Following the incident, an FIR was lodged in the Chandwaji police station where both the accused were booked under Section 151 of CrPC (arrest to prevent the commission of cognisable offences).

After receiving the complaint from the junior MBBS student, the police had started looking for the two accused in the premises of the institute but they could not be found. They were later nabbed from a nearby restaurant under preventive detention, reports the TOI.

The two medicos spent a night in the jail and the next day they were produced in front of the sub-divisional magistrate where they were granted bail till further investigation.

However, the college authorities denied any such incident at the campus.

Sushila Chettri, NIMS administrative official told the TOI, "We have not received any information regarding the issue but will look into the matter".
