Even the environment during this year’s convocation looked completely different, making it a special occasion when 115 MBBS doctors who took Hippocratic Oath.

It was earlier this year, in January, when a decision to change the dress code was taken by the vice-chancellors of the 25 state-run universities during a meeting.

So while last year, the MBBS students took the Hippocratic Oath in gown, this year, the students wore Indian attires. For males, we had fixed kurta-pyjama and for female doctors, the dress code was saree," SMS Medical College principal Dr U S Agarwal said. SMS Medical College was the 15th medical college in the country when it was established in 1947. But for a long time, SMS Medical College was not organising the convocation ceremony.
