Jain Community asked to fund a medical College at Rajkot

Rajkot: The Jain Community at Rajkot has been asked to come forward and help build a medical college at Rajkot to strengthen the medical facilities of the state. The call has been given by the State’s Chief Minister Vijay Rupani in view of the state government’s plan to double the number of colleges in the coming years.


"The state government is committed to double the number of medical colleges to ensure better health facilities. I appeal to Jain community members to come forward and help build new medical college in Rajkot," said Rupani, while speaking at a function organized by the Jain Jainam Group here on Wednesday. The Chief Minister is a member of the Jain sect.


Mr. Rupani on the occasion,also announced the building of dedicated pathways for Jain monks, for their safety, during religious foot marches.


Rajkot is the fourth largest city of Gujarat, developing at a rapid rate, it has no shortage of medical institutions for the moment. A few of the medical colleges are affiliated to the city’s public university, while most others are affiliated to autonomous universities.
