Interactive session on Stroke held at Jipmer

Puducherry: The 55th Interactive session as part of the "Jipmer Health Education Initiative" focusing on "Stroke" was held. A Jipmer release here said, as many as 250 persons including students from Kendriya Vidyalaya, JIPMER and Nursing Students, JIPMER and students from various colleges, participated in the session.


The programme was focused on stroke: easy recognition, urgent treatment, rehabilitation and prevention. One of the panelists Dr. Sunil K. Narayanan, Professor and Comprehensive Stroke care programmer, emphasized the importance of early recognition of stroke in the peripheral and then immediately taking the patient to the stroke ready centre in the time window of four hours.


He also emphasized on family assisted rehabilitation of stroke patient and the need for old age home for those who do not have close rehabilitation to take care.


The other Panelists are Dr. Rajeswari Aghoram, Assistant Professor, Department of Neurology, Dr. R. Venkateswaran, Assistant Professor, Department of Medicine. In this session a few patients shared their experiences regarding the treatment.


The session was telecasted live to all Medical Colleges of South India under National Medical College Network (NMCN) Project through JIPMER Regional Resource Centre.
