Indore: 40 additional PG seats asked by MGM Medical College
Indore: Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Medical College (MGM), has sent in a request for an increase of 40 post graduate seats for the academic session 2017-18 for various departments of the college. The college authorities are confident of getting an approval from the Medical Council of India (MCI), as per its new norms. The college administration is now gearing up for giving admission to an increased number for its post graduate courses. MGM Medical college has 68 PG course seats and the number is likely to go up to a 108, with the sanction of the additional 40.
"Proposal to increase PG seats has been submitted to the government and we are sure of getting permission for the same as per the new norms of Medical Council of India (MCI)," said Dr Sanjay Dixit, Incharge, Student Welfare Section and HoD of Community Medicine Department.
The medical regulator of late has allowed all government medical colleges to increase seats in accordance with the number of faculty available.
" The MCI has permitted to increase seats of government medical colleges on the basis of number of faculties with formula of three seats on one professor and two seats on an associated professor," he said reports Free Press journal.
"We don't have to increase anything more to increase the seats, as we are ready for the same. We have submitted the proposal and it will be cleared soon," said Dixit.
